ABOUT US
OUR STORY
I was a hockey mom for 14 years. I guess technically, I’m still the mom of a hockey player, but she’s grown now and my days of hauling a child and gear to the rink are over.
Even though my daughter’s hockey-playing days are over, I haven’t lost my passion for girls’ and women’s hockey. And while girls’ hockey is growing, in many places, it can be a struggle to find information, teams, and help with issues that are unique to girls’ hockey.
I bet the boys in your hockey organization have never had to dress in a closet, an office, or a bathroom. Am I right?
When my daughter played youth hockey, there was never a resource for girls, parents, and coaches that specifically focused on girls’ hockey and the unique situations girls face. So, I decided to start one.

Hockey is for girls
Hockey provides uncountable benefits for the girls who play it. Healthy bodies, great friends, problem-solving skills, and more.
But too often girls leave the game, especially in places where there isn’t a girls’ team available. Sexism from both coaches and other players can ruin a girl’s love of the sport.
But I believe we can change that by recognizing that girls face different challenges in this male-dominated sport and by educating both girls, their parents, and their coaches on how to eliminate obstacles — from ill-fitting gear to inappropriate comments — and create a welcoming atmosphere for any girl to play hockey.
And that’s why we created this space. You’ll find information here on everything from choosing the right equipment to coaching to navigating locker room drama to news from the world of girls’ and women’s hockey.
Because hockey is for girls.
